A motorcyclist was dead as a result of a multi-vehicle crash on Saturday near The District at Tustin Legacy shopping center and a portion of a major thoroughfare was shut down while police investigated the cause of the collision, authorities said.

Tustin police received a call of a traffic accident involving a motorcycle on Jamboree Road at Warner Avenue about 11:35 a.m., Lt. Andrew Birozy said.

It wasn’t immediately known how many vehicles were involved in the crash.

The motorcyclist died of his injuries at the scene, Birozy said. No other injuries were reported.

Tustin police shut down northbound Jamboree Road between Warner Avenue and Barranca Parkway to conduct an investigation into the cause of the crash, Birozy said. That stretch of Jamboree Road borders The District at Tustin Legacy, a large shopping center on the southern border of Tustin near Irvine.

Police were in the process of interviewing witnesses just before 1 p.m.
