Accident happened at about 10:20 a.m. on Highway 12 near Double Springs Road in Valley Springs
VALLEY SPRINGS, CA, (March 25, 2020) – Janeva Thorbrogger, 30, of Valley Springs, suffered major injuries in a head-on collision caused by David Alexander, 79, of Mokelumne Hill, on Highway 12 near Double Springs Road in Valley Springs at about 10:15 a.m. Wednesday, March 25.
Thorbrogger was transported to Doctors Medical Center in Modesto.
Alexander, who sustained minor injuries, drove his vehicle into the north shoulder of the highway before overcorrecting, entering the opposite lane and colliding with Thorbrogger’s vehicle.
Two young passengers in Thorbrogger’s vehicle, whose names weren’t released, were transported to Memorial Medical Center in Modesto with unspecified injuries.
ACCIDENT INVESTIGATION NEEDED
Head-on collisions are typically devastating, and although they represent only 2 percent of accidents, they account for 10 percent of fatalities on our roadways.
Like this collision, head-on crashes usually take place when a vehicle crosses the centerline or median. Liability on the part of Mr. Alexander appears clear in this case, and authorities will try to determine what caused him to cross the double line and strike the vehicle driven by Ms. Thorbrogger.
Candice Bond, an experienced auto accident attorney, said that head-on collisions are often caused by distracted or fatigued drivers. Bond said that in cases such as this one, it’s imperative to have an independent probe conducted by a seasoned attorney as soon as possible to preserve evidence.
“An attorney can collect the proper evidence to help prove that a driver’s actions were reckless, which requires a variety of resources,” said Bond, Managing Partner of Bond Sanchez-Gordon. “In addition to the diligent work of law enforcement, an attorney can re-interview important witnesses, analyze any surveillance video from the scene of the crash and obtain phone and texting records of the liable party. Serving as an advocate, an attorney can help compassionately guide a family during this difficult time, protecting their rights while ensuring that a driver who does not obey traffic laws is held accountable.”
CALAVERAS COUNTY WRONGFUL DEATH ATTORNEY
Pending the results of the investigation, Ms. Thorbrogger may have the right to pursue a personal injury lawsuit. Said Stefano Formica, Of Counsel with Bond Sanchez-Gordon, “The stress and worry following a serious injury can be overwhelming and disrupt all aspects of life, including family, work, finances and overall quality of life.
“It is vital for victims to hire an attorney when filing a personal injury claim, which allows them to negotiate with an insurance company on the behalf of a client,” Formica added. “Insurance companies often try to pressure victims to settle for a quick payout for far less than the case is worth. However, an attorney will vigorously advocate for their clients to ensure that they are treated with respect and compensated fairly.”
